Full Moon has a site back up with two new releases...
Apparently Full Moon Pictures is back with a new site. www.fullmoondirect.com is another reincarnation of the once wildly successful horror label. According to the site, the company will go back to it's roots to release the kinds of films (shot in 35mm, btw) that made them famous to begin with.

The first two films under the reenergized label are Dr. Moreau's House Of Pain and Puppet Master Legacy. Moreau is a "sequel" to the Island Of Dr. Moreau directed by Charles Band. Puppet Master Legacy is a kind of 'best of' movie with some new footage.

Hopefully this will last as we have seen many incarnations of Mr. Band's empire over the years. He has changed his company's name and introduced so many subsidiaries that one could say he took his eye off the ball, making the kinds of films that pleased their hardcore faithful (which at one time was a large following).

Fantastic Horror.com wishes Mr. Band good luck and hopes that he rediscovers what made the label such an addictive rental habit for so many fans over the last 15 years.

Starship Troopers sequel???
Got this from CHUD.com: STARSHIP TROPERS 2: HERO OF THE FEDERATION is such a disapointment that not only is it going straight to dvd, it wont even be sold on its own, but only as part of a packaged deal with the roughnecks boxed set.

What a shame. I loved the first movie. It was an excellent combination of gore, war and what makes science fiction truly fun. It felt like a fifties sci fi serial with better effects and a bigger budget. I knew this sequel was a bad idea as there is NO WAY to duplicate the magic of the first (love it or hate it). The scope and fury of the first was not only a credit to it's director, Paul Verhoeven, but the first was a good example of a critically despised film that has aged quite well.

Did the exec who greenlit this really think a LOW BUDGET, DIRECT TO VIDEO movie would turn out perfectly? The first one cost a lot to make and turned out quite well, warts and all. Why do Hollywood execs cynically insist on ripping us fans off with bad sequels that are hurried and rushed out without any proper script development? Do they think hiring some hack who has no clue what a genre film fan expects from a sci fi or horror movie will make them more money? Maybe I am ranting here but I just feel this is another example of what is wrong with Hollywood. The Roughnecks show is doing well, so why not do a scaled down feature film? CGI has come a long way since the first film and could have easily made this into a low budget (30-40 mil) feature and not some under 10 mil cheapie.

Oh well, it's not like hollywood is listening to us fans to begin with. I guess they think we need to see weak remakes and bad sequels and we will always be there to support their miscues :( I guess they are right...
